Dr. Cartwright's Philosophy
"...centered on best practices, ethical guidelines, multicultural competencies."
Hi, my name is Dr. Angie Cartwright and thank you for considering me as your counselor, therapist, and partner in your wellness journey. My hope is that you will learn a little about my clinical approach and perhaps feel invited to reach out for an initial phone or web-based consultation.
I believe that everyone should have access to counseling and that everyone can benefit from mental health services. I provide counseling services that are centered on best practices, ethical guidelines, multicultural competencies, and the overall well-being of my clients. I utilize approaches that are collaborative in nature and should you decide to embark upon this journey with me as your counselor, we will work together on a path uniquely designed to meet your goals. You can expect to share a bit about your background, family, social interactions, and professional work during our time together. I am a firm believer that when we explore self-concept, worldview, and patterns of behaviors we can then be empowered and inspired to make changes in the desired realms of our lives.
My clinical experiences over the last decade are related to anxiety, depression, life transitions, legal offending, and problem sexual behaviors. With regards to legal offenders and sexual offenders, I have provided expert witness testimony, psychological evaluation/assessments, and family education/chaperone services.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Master’s of Arts in Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, from Sam Houston State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (#64006), Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider Supervisor (#99218), and a Nationally Certified Counselor. My work in the counseling field has been recognized by national and international organizations such as the American Counseling Association and the International Association for Addiction and Offender Counseling. Please feel invited to reach out if you have questions or if you believe I can assist you in anyway.
We are accepting new clients. Rates begin at $150 per session. Web based counseling services are available.
If you are searching for a clinical supervisor please inquire. Monthly supervision is $300 and includes a minimum of four hours of clinical supervision.

Frequently Asked Questions
Things You Might Be Curious About
What is counseling and how can you help?
Counseling is a collaborative process between a licensed/credentialed professional and a client seeking improvement. Often, the counselor helps provide assistance, guidance, and clarity to resolve issues impeding happiness and a sense of well-being. Many people seek counseling for anxiety, communication issues, depression, addiction related issues, relationship issues, and self-esteem.
When you are talking to someone who has professional training and has helped others with problems similar to yours, that person is able to see the patterns in your life that have led to your current and historical situations. My role in your therapeutic process is to help you recognize those patterns - and to assist you with goals, efforts, and strategies to make positive and lasting changes in your daily life.
What can I expect when we meet?
Before we meet we will have a brief (10-15 minute) phone or web-based consultation. The consultation is free of charge and helps us to figure out where to begin for our first session. If arriving to the brick and mortar location (Cross Roads, TX) you will enter into the waiting area and at the time of your appointment I will welcome you. If your first appointment is virtual, you will receive email instructions to log into the secure web based portal.
During our first session, we will discuss your reasons for starting counseling and any hopes that you have for our time together. I will share thoughts and ideas for moving forward and together we will set goals and a clear plan for you to begin your therapeutic journey with North Texas Counseling and Wellness.
I need help immediately who can I contact?
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to reach a 24-hour crisis center, or text MHA to 741741 at the Crisis Text Line.
